Seminar in Abbotsford
On May 24, Sensei Mariedke, Trevor, and myself attended a seminar hosted by Shihan Steve in Abbotsford: L.O.C.K.U.P. Combat Kinetics for Street Encounters presented by Lt. Kevin Dillon (ret) and his assistant Geoffrey Anderson. The seminar was great! I came away with more knowledge and another perspective on how things are done elsewhere and different philosophies. The seminar agenda was as follows:
This 3 Hour seminar is designed to focus on offensive techniques and concepts for immediate defense.
Offensive actions necessitate combat strategies less reliant on defensive techniques. The same L.O.C.K.U.P. ® orientation provides the core of the instruction. L.O.C.K.U.P. Police Training System and Principals offers a civilian street self defense system.
Topics to discussed:
Risk Assessment and Threat Indicators Justification for Offensive Action
Understanding the Dynamics of Real Fights
Fear Management and Control
Understanding Mass / Power and Kinetic Energy
Overcoming/ Understanding Size Challenges
Angles of Attack and Escape
Fighting from all levels
