2006 Training

February 2006 - April 2006 (approximately)

Calgary Budo
Sensei Ralph Dunn and another Sensei whose name escapes me.
Trained approximately 10 weeks, 1 class per week @ 1.5 hours/class.

The style of jiu jitsu that was taught was based on Bissette Jiu Jitsu. Sensei Dunn is an active duty Calgary Police officer and taught from that perspective. A good mix a ground fighting/defense and stand-up. Lots of practical self-protection techniques, but they still seemed to be in the blow-throw-blow mentality.

Had to stop training due to a torn deltoid as a result of training with an overzealous student. The class times were also extremely inconvenient.

After recovery, I reverted back to the gym and solo training. On occasion I was able to convince a friend to do a high stress workout with skipping, boxing, and medicine ball routines. Trained approximately 2-3 times/week, 2-4 hours total/week.
