Sensei Mariedke was sick last night, so I had the class all to myself. Four of the juniors showed up as well as the new guy.

We warmed up by reviewing breakfalls 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and 8. I moved on to review wrist grab escapes (in line, cross, 2 hands on 1 wrist, 1 hand on each wrist) and had volunteers demonstrate the escapes to the other juniors.

After the juniors class, I reviewed some of the wrist grabs and bear hugs from monday with the adults. We transitioned into the neck twisting takedown, knee drop and stamping kick, and then threw in the cross armbar and finished up with rowing the boat. To finish up class, I went over high forearm blocks, elbow block, thigh block, and carriage blocks.

We had a new student tonight. He had visited twice while I was on vacation, but came back tonight. I went through portions of the high stress warm-ups with skipping and medicine balls, worked on some punching and focus mitts. Worked on breakfalls 1,2,3,5, and 7. We finished up class working on the neck twisting takedown; first entering from a hook punch defense, escalating to defense from an in-line wrist grab, and finally to a front bear hug. He seemed really enthusiastic and I hope that he decides to return.

Most people weren't able to make class last night. As such, we had a small group; Mariedke, Colby, and me. Colby is new to jiu jitsu, but has been training in martial arts since he was 10 (he is in his early 30s).

i went through all of the stances, blocks, and punches with Colby as well as radial, BPO, and lateral femoral strikes. Colby is one of those people who doesn't feel pain. None of the pressure points phased him at all, even when using 30-40% power.

We finished up with two new takedowns for Colby: ankle-thigh and neck twist. we worked on these several times and then incorporated them into some wrist grab techniques.
